47-year-old man pleads guilty to sending nude photos to 10-year-old
After allegedly sending photos of his genitals to a 10-year-old via text message, a 47-year-old Eden Prairie man pleaded guilty to felony charges last week.
Thomas Edward Campbell was arrested at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport on Feb. 4, appeared in Washington County District Court on Feb. 5, posted bail Feb. 9, entered a guilty plea two days later, and is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
He was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
According to the complaint:
Campbell was charged with engaging in electronic communication describing sexual conduct with a child, with the intent was to arouse sexual desire.
He was charged on the day of the alleged offense.
On Feb. 2, a concerned father called Minneapolis police after his daughter was found to be communicating online with an older male. An officer was provided an iPad containing a chat via phone between Campbell and the girl. In the conversation, the man learned the age of the girl.
“Wow you are young,” the man replied. “Guess I have to watch my language and choice of pictures I send.”
The girl sent a fully clothed picture of herself to the man. The picture clearly depicted a prepubescent female, police wrote.
On Feb. 3-4, while working on a detail in Woodbury, an undercover officer began communicating with Campbell via text message.
The conversation with the man veered toward sending and receiving naked pictures.
“You ever get naked for a boy or send him a pic?” Campbell texted.
Eventually, he sent two close-up pictures of his penis and one full-body photograph with his pants lowered and genitals exposed.
After his arrest, Campbell admitted he thought he was communicating with a 15-year-old girl.
